Willie J. Thomas, age 87, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Summer Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Arnold Comer and the Rev. Edwin Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born August 27, 1926 in Harnett County, NC, to the late Eddie J & Eula Thomas, he moved to Moore County as a young man. He married Mary Thomas and they ran a dairy and raised chickens for several years. He worked at J. P. Stevens for 18 years and retired in 1993. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He attended Summer Hill Baptist Church for most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Thomas; two daughters, Deborah Thomas of the home and Donna Ritter and husband, Ricky of Robbins and two grandchildren, Ricky Kanoy and wife Amber and Kendall Kanoy.
The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
