Wilma Moore Davis, 94, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. 

Wilma was born in Moore County, a daughter of the late Rancie Lee Moore and Nora Scott Moore. She was a member of the graduating class of 1947 at Westmoore High School. Wilma was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and memaw.   She is thought of by many in the community as a second mother or grandmother to them.  Wilma was a homemaker who loved to care for her family and home.  Her home was a welcoming and “fun” place for all of her family and friends. Wilma was a member of Needhams Grove Baptist Church and a wonderful example of a Christian mother.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and is remembered for her wonderful cakes.  In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Lealon Davis; daughters: Sylvia Gail Davis, Lynn Davis; grandson: Shane Stewart; siblings: Louise Maness, Rancie “Bud” Moore Jr, Dee Moore, Howard Moore, Paul Moore, Roy Moore, Marvin Moore.

Surviving are her children Cathy Brown and husband, David, of Troy, Nora Wright and husband, Roy, of Seagrove, and Janet Flinchum and husband, Mickey, of Seagrove; siblings, Betty Garner, Valleen Maness, grandchildren: Scottie Brown, Ryan Brown, Randy Wallace, Roy Wright, Jr., Maranda Britt, Jake Flinchum; great grandchildren: Trad, Holden, Josh, Ethan, Kenan, Carly, Harlin, Dana; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday October 19, 2022 at Dover Baptist Church, with Pastor Steven Maness officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30 PM

  6. I am so sorry to hear about Miss Wilma…she will be missed but never forgotten. I’ll never forget going to her house as a child & eating homemade ice cream & playing with her daughters. She also made both of my wedding cakes. She was a very special lady.

  12. Prayers for her family!! We went to Church with her when we went to Needhams Grove. She was always the same when you would see her. The last time I remember seeing her was at New Center Christian Church at a homecoming service. She was then as she always was when we would see her. She was friendly and asking about us and our family. May you all look to the Lord for comfort, help and strength. Read John 14 for comfort.

  16. My great Aunt Wilma touched many lives. What a blessing to be around, always helpful and love to talk and help anyone she could. We truly loss a great Christian woman who loved her family and anyone attached to her family. I remember the Davis get togethers where Aunt Wilma would cook the largest pot of chicken and dumplings and a pot of pintos I ever seen. Kathy, Nora and Janet how blessed you have been to have such a wonderful mother, she will truly be missed.

    Kim and I are grieved for you all in your loss of Mrs. Wilma. Such a kind, gracious and caring lady. Her friendship for me is cherished forever. She and Mr. Lealon were always encouraging and willing to support our school not to mention her persimmon pudding that was delicious. Their family was the apple of their eye.
