Winfred K. Barger, age 88 of Carthage died Wednesday, (September 10, 2014) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Lamm’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Wayne Jones. The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM.
A native of Rockbridge County, VA he was a son of the late Rush Alton Barger and Mattie Fix Barger. A US Navy veteran, he retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) in 1990.
He was preceded in death by: a sister Martha Wigington, brothers Lawrence, Calvin and Rush Barger.
He is survived by: his wife of 65 years Ruth Bryant Barger; sister Mary Ann Shaner of Natural Bridge, VA; brother-in-law Charles Bryant of Aberdeen, sisters-in-law Rose B. Denny of Greensboro, Wilma Turberville of Milton, NC; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
