Daniel Leland Flint, 92, passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Belle Meade, Southern Pines the night of July 4th, 2024.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, December 7th, 1931, he was the son of the late Mary and Farris Flint.  Dan grew up in Scarsdale, NY and graduated from Northwestern University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma. He went on to earn an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.  Dan served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956 as a Special Agent in the Counterintelligence Corps in Korea.
After returning home, he started dating Patricia Florence, a friend of his sister Sue. They were married September 6th, 1957 and resided in Manhattan for several years before moving to Scarsdale and later Chappaqua. They had three wonderful daughters: Mary, Laurel, and Amanda.
Dan spent his entire professional life in newspaper syndication until his retirement in 1996 when he and Pat moved to Seven Lakes, NC. Dan spent his time volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Robbins for 25 years and also tutored GED students at Sandhills Community College.
Dan enjoyed and excelled at racquet sports including tennis, paddle tennis and squash, which he played at the University Club where he was a lifetime member. He had a great sense of humor and friends will remember him as being a lot of fun to be around.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by daughter Mary Flint Kemma; brother-in-law James Lindsay and brother-in-law David Florence.
Dan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat, and two daughters Laurel and Amanda; his three sisters, Nancy Flint, Sue Lindsay and Betsy Koester; sister-in-law Michelle Florence; son-in-law Shujaat Kemma and two grandsons, Haadi Daniel and Haashim Paul Kemma; and many nephews and nieces.
Dan was a founding member of the New Horizons Band of Moore County and donations in his memory can be made to New Horizons Band c/o Molly Wilson, 134 South Pine St, Aberdeen NC 28315.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at the Belle Meade Chapel on Saturday, July 20th at 3:30pm followed by a reception in the Fordham room.
Services are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
