Mary Shirley Frye, 92, of Carthage, passed away on November 17, 2024, at Parkview Retirement Village.
Shirley was born on May 9, 1932, to the late Ross and Ollie Brewer Lambert in Chatham County. She was a graduate of Bennett High School and Asheboro Business College. For over 30 years, Shirley was instrumental in the lives of countless children as a substitute teacher at Union Pines High School, Cameron School, and Carthage School. Shirley grew up attending Beulah Baptist Church and later Union Presbyterian Church. More recently, she attended Community Friends Church.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Kenneth Frye, of Carthage; sister-in-laws, Betty Bottoms, of High Point, Louise Stewart, of Sanford, Leta Smith, of Cameron, and Carolyn Singleton, and her husband, Dwayne, of Conway, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clinton Lambert; brother-in-laws, Leighton Frye, Jerry Bottoms, Jimmy Smith, and Henry Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at Union Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at the Union Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will be gathering prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the Stewart Fellowship Hall.
Due to Mr. Kenneth Frye’s health, the family respectfully asks for no visiting of friends at the home.
Services for Mrs. Frye have been entrusted to Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.

Shirley was a very kind, sweet person to everyone. She will be greatly missed by those of us who knew her.

Mrs. Frye was our teacher in elementary and middle school. She was caring and patient with us and made us better people. She gave so much to the world. So sorry for your loss.
