Paul D. Russell, age 58 of Carthage died Wednesday (January 16, 2008) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Carthage Church of God with the Rev. Jeff Baker and Rev. Charles Goins officiating. Another service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Cornerstone Bible Church in Bakersville conducted by the Rev. Eddie Ledford. Burial will follow at Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Bakersville.
A native of Montgomery County he was a son of the late Cecil Eugene Russell and Jewel Ballard Russell. He was a graduate of W. Montgomery High School and Charlotte Business College. He was a US Army veteran serving in both active duty and reserves for 17 years. For 23 years he worked in water treatment industry and was currently employed with United Waters as plant manager for the town of Carthage. He was in avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Garland Russell; sons Steve Russell and wife Jessica of Vass, Scott Russell of Wadesboro; brothers Charles Russell of Asheville and Jimmie Russell of Raleigh; grandchildren Zachary and Emma Leigh.
The family will receive friends Friday at the Carthage Church of God beginning at 1:00 PM. And other times at the residence.
