Ruby Lorraine “Rainey” Fields Williams, age 95, of Robbins, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Moore County, North Carolina, to the late James Lynn Fields and Vallie Phillips Fields, she was raised on a farm where she developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work, creativity, and the beauty of the outdoors.

She was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in gardening and took great pride in caring for her yard, creating spaces that reflected her love of nature. A gifted artist, she expressed her creativity through quilting, sewing, and ceramic doll making. Her hands were rarely still, and her creations will be cherished for generations.

Her love of learning never faded. At nearly 80 years old, she enrolled in college pottery classes, where she continued to grow her skills and produce beautiful pieces that reflected both her talent and determination.

She also enjoyed traveling and held special memories of time spent in Hawaii, as well as her years living in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Wherever life took her, she formed meaningful connections and embraced new experiences.

She retired from Moore Regional Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and the genuine care she showed to both her coworkers and the patients she served. She truly loved the people she worked with and the role she played in helping others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband. Raymond, in 1985, her son. Chet, in 2023, and her grandson, Glenn Upchurch, in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Walter Fields (Pauline). Helen Frye (Bud), Leonard Fields (Imogene), D.A. Fields (Louvene), and Dora Maness (William).

She is survived by her loving children. Anna Matthews (Bob), Sara Robbins (Doug). Sandra Smith (Eddie Rowe), Lori Jeffreys (Todd); granddaughter Cassie Williams, great-granddaughter Laura Hackney, great-grandsons Richard Upchurch and Joseph Upchurch (Emma): great-great-granddaughters Brinley. Teagan and Sophia, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and extended family who will continue to carry forward her legacy of creativity, strength, and love.

A visitation and celebration of her life will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Robbins, N.C., on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Vic Hill will be officiating.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided around-the-clock care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, and/or by honoring her memory through acts of kindness, creativity, or by simply tending to a garden.
